Ski School
There are a number of ski schools operating out of Megeve, should you wish to book with them before your stay. The Princesse lift is the nearest lift to the chalet so we recommend joining a group that meets there. Alternative meeting points are Mont D’Arbois or St Gervais Les Bettex.

Ecole de Ski Français (ESF) Megeve
ESF is the largest ski school in Megeve and offers group and individual tuition to adults and children. Lessons are available in English, Italian, Spanish and German. ESF's main ski school office in Megeve is situated in the Rue de la Post and there also are five smaller satellite offices in the ski area:

The ESI ski school is a smaller, bespoke ski school with a maximum group size of eight for children and offering tuition in all forms of skiing and snowboarding, including telemark, snowshoeing and skwaling, the extreme carving craze that takes place on a single carving ski.

Revolution Glisse Ski School
Revolution Glisse is an association of freelance English-speaking instructors and guides, all qualified with national certification and offering skiing and snowboarding lessons for all ages with a minimum age of six for skiing and eight for boarding. Their "five-star" service is tailored to your needs and includes filming and a souvenir DVD video so you can see your progress. Paragliding and handgliding lessons are also available.

Ski kindergartens for young children
Club des Piou Piou La Caboche (Tel: +33 4 50 58 97 65) is a kindergarten for children aged between three and five that also offers ski tuition and the rather forbidding name MEG Accueil Childhood Department (Tel: +33 4 50 58 77 84) masks a kindergarten that also specialises in teaching young children to ski.

It is a good idea to reserve a table up the mountain for lunch or in Megève town centre for dinner at busy times of year. There are a lot of very fine restaurants in Megeve & St Gervais with many Michelin stars as well as some excellent more casual options.

This season, Megève’s unmissable gastronomic address is Le 1920, the restaurant at the Hotel Chalet du Mont d’Arbois, where 28-year-old chef Julien Gatillon was recently awarded a Michelin star, for his suave, elegant and beautifully executed contemporary French cooking.

La Ferme de Mon Père is famous for being one of two restaurants, both owned by Veyrat, to receive a perfect score (20/20) from the French food guidebook Gault Millau. No restaurant had earned a perfect score of 20 before because the authors of Gault Millau had thought perfection was impossible to achieve. The restaurant also previously had a three-star rating from the Michelin Guide.

Michelin starred mountain restaurant serving Traditional French Cuisine. Located close to the Mont d'Arbois Telecabine, Ideal 1850 is smart and used to be very expensive and pretentious, but now less so. Food is excellent food and it's best to book especially at weekends as there is a great sun terrace with a panoramic view featuring Mont Blanc

Good food and service, and one of the best for non-skiers to meet up with skiing friends. Auberge du Christomet is not cheap, but offers excellent food and fantastic views of Mont Blanc. Savoyarde specialities are extremely good. It's open all year round too and has a good sun terrace.

A rustic restaurant with an open fireplace, serving pasta and crepes, Table du Skier is located at the top of the Jaillett cable car.

Restaurant En Face du Mont Blanc (Tel: +33 4 50 21 06 51)
There are two restaurants in Restaurant En Face du Mont Blanc so you can usually get a table. Located at the top of the Jaillet cable car, lunch is buffet style, and although it is a little expensive, the views across Megeve with Mont Blanc in the background are simply stunning and won't find many restaurants with a better view than this.

Saint Gervais Town Centre
St Gervais has a more laid back air to Megeve, but is worth a visit and has some good restaurants to enjoy.
